Extreme Cold Warning

WINNIPEG - The blizzard warning for Winnipeg and area has been replaced by the following extreme cold warning from Environment Canada:

An Arctic ridge of high pressure will bring bitterly cold wind chills to southern Manitoba for Groundhog Day morning with a repeat performance Thursday.

Wind chills near minus 40 this morning will moderate slightly during the day.

Even colder wind chills will redevelop tonight, persist through Thursday morning and then moderate in the afternoon.

The extreme cold is likely to ease somewhat for the weekend.
