WINNIPEG, MB - Police have charge a 29-year-old man from Winnipeg with several offences in connection with a drunken joy ride on Pembina Highway.
Around 9:10 p.m. on Saturday night a woman was picking up an order at a drive-thru window from a Tim Hortons in the 2400 block of Pembina Highway. The male suspect entered her vehicle through the driver's side door. Luckily, the woman was able to get out of the vehicle safely before the suspect drove off.
As he drove out of the parking lot he struck a vehicle, then continued to drive south on Pembina Highway. He reportedly was driving onto the median several times and over a sidewalk, striking a street lamp. The suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop when it struck a concrete wall on the Perimeter Highway overpass. The man fled from but was located by police on Cloutier Drive.
The suspect was taken to hospital for minor injuries and while been treated, became violent with a female nurse who herself received an injury as a result.
