Police Respond to Multiple Stabbings in Winnipeg Last Night

WINNIPEG, MB. – Winnipeg police were kept busy on Thursday evening responding to three separate stabbing incidents in the city.

The first stabbing was reported around 5:45 p.m in the 400 block of Furby Street. Police located a woman who was suffering from a stab wound to her lower body. She was transported to hospital in critical condition where she remains at this time.

A second victim, an adult female, was identified with stab wounds to her upper body. She was treated in hospital and later released.

The next reported stabbing came at 8:20 p.m. when Winnipeg Police received a report of an injured female at a business in the 500 block of Balmoral Street.

Tactical Support Team members located a 26-year-old female with stab wounds to her upper body. She was transported to hospital in unstable condition. Her condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

A third stabbing was reported at 8:05 p.m. where police found a 25-year-old man with a stab wound to his upper body in the 500 block of Furby Street. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable.

Police believe this man was stabbed at a home where an argument took place between two males. The situation escalated to the point where the victim was chased by the suspect and stabbed in the upper body.

Air1 and the Tactical Team located and chased a man who was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

Police have charged, Robert Elliot Sutherland, 21-years-old of Winnipeg with Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply with Conditions of Recognizance X2.
