Jewel Thief From Pukatawagan​ Arrested

WINNIPEG – Police have arrested a 31-year-old man from Pukatawagan, Manitoba in connection with multiple robberies in Winnipeg beginning on April 29th of this year.

A security guard at a business on Portage Avenue called police on April 29th around 4:00PM after he was assaulted by a man who also stoled two cell phones from a store in the area.

Police said the suspect first went to the store at around 1:15 PM and stole a cell phone. A security guard tried to arrest him for shoplifting and was kicked in the upper body and head-butted by the suspect. The suspect then returned to the same store a couple of hours later and stole another cell phone and took off.

Police did identify the suspect however they couldn’t find him, so a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Police also now believe the suspect was responsible for some jewelry robbed from a business in the 400 block of Notre Dame Avenue on Wednesday morning just past midnight.

Police located and arrested the suspect on Wednesday. The suspect was in possession of approximately half a gram of methamphetamine.

Police also determined that the suspect was responsible for the break and enter on Notre Dame Avenue and they were able to locate the majority of the jewelry stolen.

Greg Joseph Dumas, 31-years-old from Pukatawagan, Manitoba was charged with:

  • Break, Enter and Theft
  • Possess Methamphetamine

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for Robbery, Theft Under $5000 and Assault.
