Finger Prints Indentified Robbery Suspect

WINNIPEG, MB. - Winnipeg Police have made an arrest in connection with an attempted robbery early this year.

An attempt robbery in the area of St. James Street and Portage Avenue was reported on January 2. Police and the Tactical Support Team responded but were unable to locate the suspect.

Police met with the victim, a man, who told police he was driving Northbound on St. James Street from Portage Avenue. He stopped at red light, with his driver's side window partially down when a man approached him and asked for money. The driver politely refused and the man then brandish a knife, demanded money, and threatened to injure him. The man grabbed onto the window and attempted to pull it. The light turned green and victim was able to drive away. He did not suffer injuries nor was his vehicle damaged.

Winnipeg Police Forensic Unit checked the mans vehicle and were able to obtain fingerprints from the window, identifying a suspect.

Yesterday, On January 11, 2018 officers went to the Winnipeg Remand Centre and arrested Jaime Efrain Garcia, 36-years-old of Winnipeg. He has been charged with Robbery and Fail to Comply with Probation.
