Air 1 Leads K-9 Unit to Culprits

WINNIPEG, MB - The eagle eye of Air 1 aids in the capture of a stolen vehicle that was taken during a car-jacking in the city on April 8th around 6:25PM

Police said a 50-year-old man was found injured near Parr Street and Selkirk Avenue. The man had a stab wound to the upper body and was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

Police later learned the victim was standing outside of his rental car in the area of Sargent Avenue and Lipton Street when he was approached by two people. One pulled out a knife, pointed it at the victim and demanded a ride. In the vehicle, the same suspect sat behind the victim, continuing to threaten him with a knife, and directed him where to drive. The victim was ultimately directed to the back lane of Selkirk Avenue where they demanded his money and car keys. When the victim advised that he did not have any money, one of the suspects slashed the victim in the chest with the knife. The victim was then forced to hand over his bank cards and pin numbers.

The suspects then took off with the vehicle.

Early Friday morning, around 12:40AM Air1 spotted the stolen vehicle being driven erratically in near Parr Street and Mountain Avenue. The occupants fled the vehicle and officers and K9 members were directed to their location by Air1 where they were captured.

Cody Henry Bousquet, a 27-year-old male, was arrested and has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3.

Demaris Angel Rose Flett, a 20-year-old female, was arrested and has been charged with Public Mischief, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and Fail to Comply with Recognizance X2.

Police located and arrested one of the suspects from the robbery on Saturday, April 14

Barry Shane Stevenson, a 30-year-old male, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Robbery. He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

Police said a second suspect remains to be caught.
