Arrest Made in Furby Street Stabbing

WINNIPEG, MB – Police have charged a 55-year-old Winnipeg man in connection with the suspicious death reported on Wednesday.

Police found the victim, Joseph Moise Francois, a 45-year-old male of Winnipeg in the 500 block of Furby Street on February 14, around 2:30 a.m..

During the investigation, police determined the victim had been socializing at his home when a dispute happened with a man the victim knew. The victim was stabbed and later died from the injury.

Police have charged Joseph Allan Ballantyne, a 55-year-old male of Winnipeg, with the following:

  • Manslaughter
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Ballantyne was also processed on an outstanding arrest warrant for Fail to Comply Probation Order and was held in custody.
