WINNIPEG - A teenager who badly injured an 84 year old woman in an unprovoked stabbing in Winnipeg has been handed the maximum youth sentence of three years in custody, as well as community supervision.
The now 16 year old boy pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault after the violent incident on July 12th.
The Crown says the teen had already vandalized two cars when he came across the senior walking and stabbed her with a large, military-style hunting knife.
The woman spent almost six weeks in hospital during which time she had open-heart surgery and her spleen was removed.
