Police Chief Refuses To Resign

WINNIPEG - Police chief Danny Smyth says he will not resign. He also says he supports exploring options to recover the remains of two Indigenous women who are believed to be in a landfill outside Winnipeg.

Police say the remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran ended up in the Prairie Green landfill in the spring.

However, they decided not to conduct a search because too much time had passed and too much garbage had been dumped.

The Harris family and Indigenous leaders have called for Smyth's resignation over the decision not to search the landfill.
