Parking Authority Employee Assaulted

WINNIPEG - Police arrested and charged a 30-year-old man after he assaulted a Winnipeg Parking Authority employee.

On August 12, 2018, the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of an assault of a Winnipeg Parking Authority employee.

Police said around 3:30 PM on August 12th, a parking authority mobile officer had been walking in the 200 block of De Vos Road in response to area complaints when a male driver stopped his vehicle in the path of the officer and blocked him from going any further.

The man opened his vehicle door, partially got out and began yelling at the employee, his vehicle was still moving towards the parking patrol officer’s vehicle. He then stopped it and moved towards the victim, who was subsequently assaulted. As the victim tried to make an emergency on his portable radio, the suspect grabbed the radio cord of the device and pulled it out of the microphone causing it to become inoperable.

The man then drove away and police were contacted.

Later that day police arrested a 30-year-old man from Winnipeg who is facing charges of:

  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Mischief Under $5,000

He was also issued tickets for Drive as to Impede Traffic and Drive Imprudently.
