Winnipeg Luring Conviction Quashed

Luring Conviction Quashed

WINNIPEG - A man in Winnipeg found guilty of luring a minor on the Plenty of Fish dating website has had his convictions quashed because a judge has decided that police entrapped him.

36 year old Michael Lymych was convicted last year of internet luring and making sexually explicit material available to a minor.

Lymych was arrested in an investigation that targeted the online luring of minors.

Queen's Bench Justice Jeffrey Harris says police must have a reasonable suspicion that an accused is already involved in criminal activity before offering them an opportunity to commit a crime.
