WINNIPEG - A Royal Canadian Legion in Winnipeg held one last celebration on the weekend.
Branch 141 on Selkirk Avenue has closed its doors after the building was sold recently.
Legion membership was declining, maintenance costs were rising and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
The branch was founded at the end of the Second World War by mostly Ukrainian-Canadian veterans.
Sergeant-at-arms Ron Wachniak says they are keeping the name and future options are being explored which could include reopening the legion is a new location.
