WINNIPEG - Emergency rooms and urgent care centres in the city are short of staff.
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority says its currently the most pressing problem and patient wait times are growing longer as a result of it.
Officials have met with doctors and other health care workers in the system to identify patients who can be moved out of hospitals to free up beds for people waiting to get in from ERs and urgent cares.
Part of the problem is the number of patients in hospitals recovering from COVID-19 and the redeployment of some employees to COVID testing sites and vaccination clinics.
