WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is expanding hours at five clinics across the city in hopes of reducing wait times at urgent cares and emergency rooms.
Starting in November, the WRHA’s walk-in clinics will be open evenings and weekends for people who need less urgent care.
Dr. Joss Reimer, the authority's chief medical officer, says about 40 per cent of people who visit an urgent care or ER could get treatment elsewhere.
The province says it’s spending $1.4 million to hire new doctors and nurses to work the extra clinic hours.
