Winnipeg Care Homes Struggle With COVID

Care Homes Struggle

WINNIPEG - Care homes in Winnipeg are having a tough time as more of their employees come down COVID-19.

Some residents are not being bathed and their clothes and bed sheets are going unchanged.

One of the homes, the Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre, has requested extra staff from the provincial COVID relief pool but so far no help has been provided.

In the meantime, remaining workers are focusing on essential care and relying on caregivers and volunteers to lend a hand.

According to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, COVID outbreaks have been declared at 16 care homes.
