Weekend Coyote Attack In Winnipeg

Weekend Coyote Attack

WINNIPEG - A nine year old boy is recovering after being attacked by a coyote on the weekend in Winnipeg.

He was walking on Saturday evening with his 15 year older sister when the animal approached them near Popko Crescent and Knowles Avenue in North Kildonan.

They ran but the coyote chased them and caught the boy who suffered multiple injuries. His wounds were stitched up at hospital and he’s now recovering at home.

A neighbour with a shovel scared the animal off.

Police and conservation officials say if a coyote approaches, you should make yourself appear as big as possible, make lots of noise and slowly back away.
