WINNIPEG – Police are looking for witnesses to a pedestrian-vehicle accident just after midnight last night that took the lives of two people.

The accident took place at approximately 12:20AM at the intersection of Panet Road and Regent Avenue. Investigators believe that a vehicle travelling westbound on Regent struck two pedestrians who were crossing southbound at Panet Road. Both victims were taken to hospital in serious condition and have since been pronounced deceased.

Efforts are currently underway to notify next of kin.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and met with officers.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Traffic Division. Investigators are looking for possible witnesses to this collision. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
