WINNIPEG – We start the first full week of the new year with hope. COVID-19 numbers in Manitoba have been lower and the Pfizer vaccine is going into people’s arms.

The province’s new supersite at the RBC Convention Centre opens today with several hundred appointments available for all critical care, acute care and long-term care workers over the age of 46. People working at immunization and testing sites are also eligible to get the shot.

Manitoba’s first shipment of the Moderna vaccine, over 7,000 doses, is expected any day now. More than 5,000 of the doses will be sent off right away to remote First Nations.

Over 3,000 Manitobans have been vaccinated so far, about 500 of them have received their second needle as well.
