WINNIPEG - A standing hearing will take place to determine who will be able to participate in the inquest for 44 year-old Richard Kakish.
Richard was arrested in August of 2017 and taken to the Winnipeg Remand Centre. He was taken to hospital for assessment when he complained of chest pains where he was assessed and then returned to WRC.
The following day he again complained of chest pain and the following day his condition deteriorated and first responders were called. He suffered cardiac arrest and died in hospital two day later.
It was later determined by the Chief Medical Officer that he died from complications from blunt trauma that had damaged his spleen.
The standing hearing will be held on Friday, March 22 at 9 a.m. in courtroom 404 at the Manitoba Law Courts Complex, 408 York Ave., Winnipeg.
