WINNIPEG - A major expansion and modernization of the ER at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg is underway.
Premier Heather Stefanson and health minister Audrey Gordon say the $141 million investment will cut wait times and make more space for both patients and staff.
In 2019, the ER at St. B saw almost 48,000 visits. That number is expected to rise to 55,000 when the new ER opens in the fall of 2025.
Doctors and nurses welcome the news but say the expansion doesn't do anything for long wait times now.
