Peace Officers For Transit

WINNIPEG - During his inaugural state of the city address on Thursday, mayor Scott Gillingham gave a progress report on his first four months in office.

He also talked about what Winnipeggers can expect going forward in four main areas - homelessness, safety, downtown improvements and economic development.

Gillingham promised to have two dozen peace officers on Winnipeg Transit as soon as possible.

At first, the security team will focus on five bus routes where almost half of incidents have occufred.

The routes are Portage-Kildonan, Sargent-Mountain, North Main-Corydon, Selkirk-Osborne and Transcona-Pembina.
