Outbreak At School

WINNIPEG - Some students at a school in North Kildonan are back to learning at home after four more cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Tuesday. Parents whose children attended John Pritchard School were notified yesterday that those in grades 4 through 8 will begin remote learning immediately. This brings the total number of confirmed cases at the school to five, after a student who attended school all day for three days last week had tested positive for COVID-19 - but showed no symptoms while at the school.

While Kindergarten and Grades 1 through 3 classes will continue at the school, the letter says the Henderson Early Learning Child Care Centre’s before-and-after school program will also be provided remotely as of today. “Public health anticipates that remote learning will continue for these cohorts/grades for 14 days, but this may be lengthened or shortened as the investigation continues,” the letter said. The River East Transcona School Division says it has been working with Manitoba Education since March to plan for school outbreaks and other potential scenarios resulting from the pandemic.
