WINNIPEG - Thousands of people have been visiting the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg this week to get their hands on a special toonie that honours Queen Elizabeth who died in September.
So far, over four thousand people have made the trip for the new toonie which is gold with a black outer ring to symbolize mourning.
Mint spokesperson Adrienne Wilson says because demand is so high, there's a two coin per person limit.
However, by later this month, about five million of the toonies will enter the national coin distribution system.
