WINNIPEG - Siloam Mission says the number of Winnipeggers coming in food support has almost doubled since last fall and it's putting a strain on the shelter.
CEO Tessa Blaikie Whitecloud says there has also been a decrease in donations so they have added $140,000 to the budget this year just for food.
Siloam is averaging 15,000 meals a day and only has two or three days of food on hand instead of the normal five to seven.
Siloam's overall deficit is currently $750,000.
