Mosquito Fight Underway In Winnipeg

Mosquito Fight Underway

WINNIPEG - The second wettest April in Manitoba history could translate into a significant mosquito problem this summer.

However, the City of Winnipeg is planning an extensive control program for the bloodsuckers at a cost of $10 million.

Helicopters and ground crews have begun larviciding but their efforts are about two weeks behind schedule because of the very late spring.

Homeowners are being asked to remove standing water from their properties to help reduce the number of mosquitoes.
