Libraries Lend Books Again

Libraries Lend Books Again

WINNIPEG - Starting today, ten of Winnipeg’s 20 libraries are once again providing their services after more than a month of closure. The virtual reopening will allow for returns as well as the contactless pickup of material that had been put on hold using the Winnipeg Public Library website or app, but patrons won’t be allowed in the buildings themselves.

Staff will be available virtually to help guide virtual visitors selecting books, media, and other items in their collection digitally ahead of their visit. Once a hold is made, patrons will be asked to call ahead to arrange pickup.

The city says it heard from many concerned citizens asking for access to library material following their closure on October 31.

The libraries that will be providing these services are:

- St. Boniface

- Charleswood

- Henderson

- St. James

- Louis Riel

- Millennium

- Pembina Trail

- River Heights

- Sir William Stephenson

- Transcona

They’ll be available for pickup and return Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
