WINNIPEG - The City of Winnipeg will resume issuing penalties for late payments on Thursday after nearly four months of relief. Beginning October 1, the City says it will once again be assessing, adding up, and working to collect charges for late payments of fees and fines - along with interest. Applicable fees include parking tickets and utility and ambulance bills just to name a few. The change does not apply to unpaid property or business taxes, which will still be waived until November 30.
The municipal government explained that city council voted on June 6 to extend the waiving of those late fees for both residents and businesses until the end of September. They note they’ll offer assistance and flexibility to some residents who have been impacted financially by COVID-19. Those who need assistance are asked to contact the City to make arrangements.
