WINNIPEG - A city official says the next step in clearing a blockade at a landfill will likely be a court injunction after a deadline for the protesters to leave expired yesterday.
Dozens of demonstrators continue to block Brady Road landfill and they promise to do so until a search is done for the remains of slain Indigenous women at another landfill north of Winnipeg.
The city issued an order on Friday demanding full access be restored to the landfill by noon on Monday.
Michael Jack, the city's chief administrative officer, says if a solution is not found, efforts will need to escalate.
