Humane Society Very Full

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Humane Society is asking for help as it closes its animal intake as a result of what it calls a dangerously full capacity. The society says it’s only accepting sick and injured animals until they can get their sheltered animals into loving new homes.

As smoky conditions ease in northeastern Manitoba communities threatened by wildfires, the Manitoba Animal Alliance says it’s in the process of airlifting more than 200 dogs to Winnipeg as it rescues pets that evacuated residents were forced to leave behind. Some of those are being cared for by volunteers, while others are in the care of the Winnipeg Humane Society, some needing medical care.

Those considering animal adoption can find more information on [the Humane Society’s website] or call 204-982-2021.
