WINNIPEG - Extreme heat forced the cancellation of Sunday’s Manitoba Marathon.
About an hour into the event, executive director Rachel Munday and the marathon’s medical team decided it was getting too hot and the race was called.
Winnipeg and the rest of southern Manitoba was under an Environment Canada heat warning at the time.
It’s the first time in the 44 year history of the marathon that it’s been cancelled because of the weather.
