WINNIPEG - This year will not see as many new heated bus shelters in Winnipeg as usual.
Winnipeg Transit says it's going to build 35 warm shelters instead of the normal 55 for a few different reasons.
A report to the city's public works committee says it's part of Transit's COVID-19 deficit management plan, adding there are supply chain issues and the cost of repairing vandalized shelters has soared.
Each shelter can cost as much as $125,000 dollars to build.
The city spend more than $700,000 repairing bus shelters last year.
