City Workers Off With COVID

WINNIPEG - Omicron is causing staffing challenges at the City of Winnipeg.

Mayor Brian Bowman and Jason Shaw, the head of Emergency Services, held a news conference where they said dozens of fire-paramedic and transit workers are off the job with COVID-19.

There are currently 351 active cases of COVID among city employees, including 85 firefighters and paramedics and 76 transit workers.

Shaw says fire-paramedic staff is being redeployed and so far response times are not being affected.
