WINNIPEG - Shared Health says several Manitoba facilities have COVID-19 outbreaks — one in Winnipeg involving more than two dozen cases across two campuses, one in a northern Manitoba church, and another at a northwestern Manitoba personal care home.
The government says the facilities have been moved to the Critical (Red) level on Manitoba's Pandemic Response System. They include the Lagimodiere campus of Springs Academy in Winnipeg, Benito Personal Care Home, and Light of the North Covenant Church in Thompson.
The province explains that the Lagimodiere campus of Springs Christian Academy, which has had students in Grades 1 through 6 moved to remote learning, has had 13 cases reported, while its St. Boniface-area has also had an outbreak declared. Provincial data shows the two facilities have 13 active cases each: 13 among students at their campus on Youville St., and four staff members and nine students at the Lagimodiere campus. The province declares school outbreaks when there are three or more cases in a school within 14 days.
Ten people have tested positive for COVID-19 at Benito Personal Care Home, which is five minutes from the Saskatchewan border, including one staff member and nine residents.
