WINNIPEG - Hundreds of people formed a ring around drummers and singers in the middle of Portage and Main on Friday.
The gathering at 5 p.m. was to honour Linda Beardy after the mother of four was found dead at Brady Landfill earlier this week.
The demonstrators who chanted “we are not trash” and “shut Brady down” closed the intersection, forcing police to divert traffic.
Beardy’s death was initially considered suspicious but investigators have since said there was no foul play.
Surveillance video shows Beardy climb into a garbage bin after leaving a store on Pembina.
