WINNIPEG - Manitoba's top court has upheld the conviction of a man sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Winnipeg lawyer.
Keishawn Mitchell was convicted of second degree murder in 2021 in the death of Justin Silicz.
Silicz was stabbed in 2019 while walking to his car from an after-hours club with friends.
The Court of Appeal rejected Mitchell's claim that jurors were not properly instructed about the rules of self-defence.
Mitchell admitted to stabbing Silicz but claimed he was too intoxicated to form the intent to kill.
