WINNIPEG - An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition with life-altering injuries after being shot Saturday night riding his bicycle near Roy Avenue and Cecil Street in Winnipeg.
Police say the shooting happened around 7:30PM. A short time later officers from the Street Crime Unit spotted a suspect vehicle near Logan Street and Arlington Avenue. The SUV took off, but didn't get far they crashed in the 500 block of Elgin Avenue. Four men were arrested and a sawed-off shotgun was found.
Police determined that the victim was riding his bicycle with two relatives when he was confronted by the 4 suspects who drove in front of them blocking their path. The two parties were not known to each other. One of the accused men pulled a gun and the victims attempted to flee, however, the 18-year-old fell. He was then shot by one of the suspects sustaining serious injuries.
Police have charged Bronson Keqahtooway, a 24-year-old man with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Robbery with Firearm
- Flight from Police
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Numerous Firearms Offences
- Breach of Recognizance x 3
Joey Morrissette, a 23-year-old man, with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Robbery with Firearm
- Numerous Firearms Offences
- Savannah Linklater, 18-years-old, was charged with:
- Robbery with Firearm
- Breach of Court Order
- Numerous Firearms Offences
And Mitchell Mann, a 23-year-old man, was charged with with 36 offences in total. The additional charges relate to 28 separate instances of Theft Under $5,000 from 28 liquor outlets throughout the city. He was also charged for the following:
- Robbery with Firearm
- Breach of Court Order
- Numerous Firearms Offences
