WINNIPEG - The San Jose Sharks defeated the Winnipeg Jets last night 4-3; Winnipeg is now 0-2 on the season.
Similar to Wednesday night in Anaheim, the Jets got off to a quick start last night, but then it all fell apart. Goals by Pierre-Luc Dubois and Andrew Copp gave the Jets a 2-0 lead early into the second period, then it was all Sharks until Jansen Harkins added an unassisted goal at 13:29 of the third, but it was too little too late. Like Wednesday, Winnipeg’s powerplay despite three chances, couldn’t find the net. The special teams did click with a shorthanded goal (by Copp), but the powerplay gave up a shorthanded goal as well. Connor Hellebuyck faced 31 shots and was once again less than stellar in net; he has now given up 8 goals over the past two games. San Jose outshot, outplayed, and outhit the Jets sending the Sharks fans home happy and the Jets coaching staff scratching their head looking for answers.
The Jets are next in action Tuesday night in St. Paul taking on the Minnesota Wild at 7pm (TSN 3, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
