WINNIPEG - New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin stopped all 24 shots he faced for his league-leading third shutout of the season to backstop the New York Islanders to a 2-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night at Canada Life Centre. Islanders Andres Lee scored what turned out to be the winning goal just 3:12 into the first period while centre Brock Nelson added the insurance marker 47 seconds into the third.
Eric Comrie stopped 29-of-31 shots in the Jets net, registering his first loss of the season after starting with straight three wins. The Jets are now 6-3-2 this season, with the win the Islanders improved to 5-2-2.
The Jets seven game homestand continues Tuesday night when they face the St. Louis Blues at 7pm (TSN 3, 680 CJOB/Power 97). The teams have split their last four meetings since the Blues ousted the Jets in the first round of the 2019 playoffs in six games en route to winning their first Stanley Cup.
