Jets Victorious In Arizona

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets remained perfect in 2022 with a 3-1 victory over the Arizona Coyotes last night at the virtually empty Gila River Arena (Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press tweeted that “there might not be more than 3,000 here at puck drop. And a chunk of them are Jets fans).

The Jets gained revenge over the Coyotes after a dismal 1-0 loss in Winnipeg on November 29th by firing 48 shots at Arizona’s Karel Vejmelka. Winnipeg took a 2-0 lead into the third period with goals from Evgeny Svechnikov and Pierre-Luc Dubois. Coyotes defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere made it interesting with a goal at 6:41, but Nikolaj Ehlers’ empty net goal with 45 seconds left sealed the Jets 16th win of the season. Connor Hellebuyck was once again strong in net stopping 26 of the 27 shots he faced.

The Jets now head to Denver to face the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. Game time is 8pm (TSN 3, 680 CJOB/Power97).
