WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets remain undefeated on home ice this season after a 5-1 win over the lifeless Chicago Blackhawks last night at Canada Life Centre.
Two quick first period goals by Paul Stastny and Neil Pionk gave the Jets a 2-0 lead after only 2:23 gone and they never looked back. Dominic Toninato, Kyle Connor, and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for the Jets and Andrew Copp tallied 3 assists. Eric Comrie in his second straight start put together a 17-save performance for his third win of the season narrowly missing out on his first career shutout as Chicago’s MacKenzie Entwistle scored early in the third period.
The Jets fired 33 shots at a somewhat shaky Marc-Andre Fleury scoring 4 goals on their first 14 shots. Fleury had little to no support from his teammates all night. The Blackhawks are now 1-9-2 this season while Winnipeg improves to 6-2-2.
The Jets seven game homestand continues tonight when they host the New York Islanders at 6pm (SNW, SN360, Power 97).
