WINNIPEG - It looked like it might be another disappointing loss after blowing a lead as the Jets jumped out to a 2-0 lead early but somehow ended the first period in a 3-3 tie. But a funny thing happened, the other shoe didn't drop at Canada Life Centre and Winnipeg exploded in the third, scoring four times to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-4. The 12,925 fans went home happy.
The Jets were led by Mark Scheifele with a four point night (1 goal, 2 assists), Paul Stastny (2 goals) and Blake Wheeler (2 assists). Winnipeg needed points from their top guys as Connor Hellebuyck had another shaky night between the pipes, allowing 4 goals on the 24 shots he faced and posting a .833 save percentage. The Jets outshot the Lightning 33-24.
Winnipeg now hits the road and plays back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday against the Devils and the Islanders. The game in New Jersey starts at 6pm (TSN3, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
