Winnipeg Jets Miss Playoffs

Jets Miss Playoffs

WINNIPEG - There’s something fitting about the playoff hopes of the Winnipeg Jets being dashed in the “world’s most famous arena” Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Big Apple. According to the song, “if you make it there, you’ll make it anywhere”. The Jets didn’t make anything last night.

Former Jet Andrew Copp recorded 2 assists as the Rangers beat the Jets 3-0, officially eliminating Winnipeg from the post season. Copp, has points (five goals, 10 assists) in 12 of his 14 games with New York since being acquired from Winnipeg on March 21. Ryan Strome scored twice for New York with Adam Fox adding another. New York netminder Igor Shesterkin stopped all 31 shots on the way to his 36th win of the season, while Eric Comrie made 31 saves for Winnipeg.

With the victory, the Rangers move into a first-place tie with the Carolina Hurricanes with 106 points atop the Metropolitan Division. Carolina is the next stop for the Jets on this quick road trip, the 2 teams meet tomorrow night at 6pm (TSN3, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
