Jets Lose To Islanders

WINNIPEG - Josh Bailey scored twice and Brock Nelson added a goal and an assist as the New York Islanders beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 Friday night at USB Arena.

Kyle Connor and Blake Wheeler scored the goals for Winnipeg in the team's third loss in five games. Connor Hellebuyck made 33 saves in his league-leading 49th start and now has a 19-21-9 record on the season. Anders Lee and Cal Clutterbuck also scored for the Islanders and Semyon Varlamov stopped 27 shots for the club's second win in two nights.

Islanders bench boss Barry Trotz became the third coach in NHL history reach 900 wins, joining Scotty Bowman and Joel Quenneville.

The Jets finish their three game road trip on Sunday against the St Louis Blues. Winnipeg has won their last two meetings after St. Louis claimed the season series opener. Paul Stastny scored two goals in each of those wins against his former club. Puck drop is 6pm (TSN3, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
