WINNIPEG - It looked like it was going to be another St. Valentine’s Day massacre like we saw on Monday, but the Winnipeg Jets regrouped and beat the Seattle Kraken 5-3 last night at Canada Life Centre.
Seattle’s Vince Dunn beat Eric Comrie to give the Kraken the lead before the game was four minutes old. Marcus Johansson made it 2-0 at 12:25 and some of the 13,071 in the crowd started ordering their Ubers. But before the period ended, Dominic Torinato’s shorthanded goal gave the Jets a sign of life. The second period was all Winnipeg when Pierre-Luc Dubois beat Philipp Grubauer at 1:45 for his 21st goal of the year to tie things up. Blake Wheeler continued his hot streak, giving the Jets the lead at 11:54. In the third, Jordan Eberle tied the game at 3 a piece until Kyle Connor fed Josh Morrissey a perfect pass to give the Jets the lead. Connor sewed the game up with an empty net goal with 1 second to go to send the fans home happy.
The Jets wrap up their homestand Saturday afternoon when Evander Kane makes his first appearance as an Edmonton Oiler at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is 3pm (TSN3, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
