Jets Get Whipped In Denver

WINNIPEG - With three players out of the lineup, the Winnipeg Jets saw their three game winning streak come to an end when they got whipped 7-1 by the Colorado Avalanche last night at Ball Arena in Denver.

The Jets placed Jansen Harkins and Dylan DeMelo in Covid protocol yesterday afternoon and Paul Stastny was scratched with a lower body injury. All three were missed as Winnipeg didn’t have the same fight in them as they displayed during the last three road games. Mark Scheifele’s powerplay goal at 2:56 gave Winnipeg an early first period lead, but then it was all Colorado with goals from Nazem Kadri, Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon, Bowen Byram, and a hat trick from Gabriel Landeskog. The Avalanche outshot the Jets 42-35.

The 16-12-5 Jets, due to provincial restrictions, have had their next few home games postponed and won’t see action until Thursday, January 13th when they face the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. Game time is 6:30pm (TSN 3, 680 CJOB/Power97).
