WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets overcame a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Seattle Kraken 4-3 in their final game of the season yesterday afternoon at Canada Life Centre.
Blake Wheeler led the comeback early in the third after Paul Stastny won a faceoff, getting the puck to the Jets captain who blasted it past Kraken netminder Chris Driedger. The assist was Stastny's 800th career point. Kyle Connor set a Jets 2.0 franchise record with his 47th goal of the year which was the game winner. Goaltender Eric Comrie made 27 saves, picking up his 10th win of the season. Morgan Barron and Dominic Toninato got standing ovations as they also scored for the Jets who won all four games of their final homestand. Fans also saluted TSN’s Dennis Beyak who called his final Jets game before heading off into retirement.
The Jets now face a long off-season with many tough decisions to be made. Players will have exit meetings with interim Head Coach Dave Lowry and general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff later today.
