WINNIPEG - After losing four straight games, the Winnipeg Jets earned their second consecutive road win on the strength of Evgeny Svechnikov’s third period goal, giving them a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens last night at the Bell Centre.
Morgan Barron had a goal and an assist while Paul Stastny also scored for the Jets. Adam Lowry added an empty-netter, and Dylan Samberg recorded two assists. Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves while facing 25 Montreal shots.
Josh Anderson of the Habs notched his 100th career goal and Joel Armia scored against his former team. Netminder Samuel Montembeault was sensational, keeping the Canadiens in the game with 31 saves on 34 shots.
The Jets are now 34-28-11 and still in the playoff race, trailing Dallas by 5 points. However, the Stars have played 2 fewer games than Winnipeg. The Jets face Seattle tomorrow night at home; puck drop is 7:30pm (TSN3, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
