Winnipeg Jets Double Arizona

Jets Double Arizona

WINNIPEG - Back on November 29th, the Winnipeg Jets couldn’t put a puck past Arizona goalie Karel Vejmelka; that night he made 46 saves to record his first NHL shutout. Last night at Canada Life Centre, the Jets fired 40 shots at him, and he stopped all but 2. Mark Scheifele scored twice, including the winner with 9.7 seconds left in overtime, and the Jets ended their four game homestand at 3-1-0 with a 2-1 victory over the Coyotes. The loss was the last place Coyotes fifth straight.

Scheifele got the Jets on the board with a first period goal. There was no scoring until the third when Arizona’s Nick Ritchie put one past Connor Hellebuyck at 6:17. It looked like the game was headed to a shootout until Scheifele took the puck on a breakaway and sent the 13,825 fans home happy. Hellebuyck made 28 saves for the Jets.

Winnipeg is now 32-25-10 and starts a short road trip Wednesday night in Buffalo. Puck drop is 6pm (SNW, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
