WINNIPEG - Jansen Harkins scored twice, Kyle Connor got his 39th goal of the season and the Winnipeg Jets beat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-4 last night at the United Center in Chicago. Winnipeg won for the third time in four games to get within five points of the Western Conference's final wild-card spot.
Nikolaj Ehlers, Josh Morrissey and Blake Wheeler also scored, and Connor added two assists for the Jets. Andrew Copp in what could have been his last game in a Jets uniform added three assists; Copp is rumoured to be on the trading block as he is an unrestricted free agent next season and the trade deadline is today at 2pm.
Jonathan Toews, Dylan Strome, Taylor Raddysh and Philipp Kurashev each scored for Chicago. Connor Hellebuyck had another shaky night between the pipes for the Jets stopping 32 of the 36 shots he faced, but came up big in the last few minutes when Chicago pulled Marc-Andre Fleury for the extra attacker. Fleury stopped 26 of the 31 shots he faced.
Winnipeg returns home to start a four game homestand tomorrow night against the Vegas Golden Knights at 7pm (TSN3, 680 CJOB/Power 97). The Jets have won the past four meetings with Vegas including blasting them 7-3 last Tuesday night at Canada Life Centre.
