WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets, despite taking 20 minutes off in the middle of the game, earned their fourth straight win, beating the Los Angeles King last night 3-2. It must be noted that this win, like the three previous, have been without Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele in the line up (Wheeler is expected to return Saturday, Scheifele should be back Tuesday).
Pierre-Luc Dubois opened the scoring and got the game winner in the third to lead the Jets, and he now has 6 goals on the season. Dubois was spectacular, as was Kyle Connor with 3 assists. Neil Pionk was also solid with 2 assists. Andrew Copp scored his fifth of the season and Eric Comrie, making his first start of the season turned away 29 shots. Comrie said post-game that he bought so many tickets for family and friends that he basically played for free last night, and those people didn’t go home disappointed. The Jets really rebounded in the third period and deserved that second straight win on the road. The Jets wrap up this road trip Saturday night in San Jose (6pm Citytv, SN360, 680 CJOB/Power 97).
Finally, Kevin Cheveldayoff’s meeting with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, has been bumped up to today in New York City after the Jets reportedly told the league they didn’t want to wait until Monday, when it was originally scheduled. We will learn his fate later today.
